Types of Current

Did you know that microcurrent is only one of the many currents used in the beauty industry? So what’s the difference between them, and which is right for you?

While there are many different kinds of current used in beauty tools today, not all currents are created equal but they do have value. Have you ever wondered what all these different “currents” actually do? Here’s a list of currents that are commonly used for facial devices, and how they work.

Galvanic current

Galvanic current is a direct and constant current that uses both positive and negative polarities and is measured in milliamps. There is no frequency on galvanic because it is a direct current. While galvanic doesn’t stimulate muscles, it is great for product penetration and also beneficial in de-incrustation.

Microcurrent

Microcurrent is an alternating current. It uses both the positive and negative polarities. The current is measured in micro amps with an intensity of 175-1000.  The frequency of the microcurrent ranges from 0.1-680 Hz. The main purpose of microcurrent is to lift and tone the muscles and stimulate ATP production (by 500%!). This provides more immediate results.

Nano current

Nano current is similar to microcurrent, only it has a much smaller electrical wavelength. While microcurrents target the muscles and upper layers of the skin, nano-currents travel easily with less resistance to reach deeper layers of the skin, providing longer lasting results.
